Bets of up to BRL50 ($10) accounted for approximately 74% of all transactions on betting platforms in Brazil during the second quarter of 2026. In addition to comprising most transactions, they accounted for about 23% of the total financial value. This reinforces the fact that the betting market is driven by low-value wagers.

The data comes from a quarterly report by Paag, a technology company specialising in data intelligence for the regulated market. The study was based on an analysis of transactions within the company’s customer base between April and June 2026, providing insights into player behaviour and Brazilian market dynamics.

In this context, transactions of up to R$20 ($4) represent about 45% of the transaction volume, although they account for only 8% of the financial value. Meanwhile, bets between R$20 and R$50 ($4 and $10) correspond to approximately 29% of transactions and 15% of the total value handled. These two segments highlight that frequent betting activity is strongly linked to lower-value deposits made regularly by users.

Conversely, bets exceeding R$50 ($10) accounted for approximately 77% of the financial value handled during the quarter. Transactions between R$50 and R$1,000 ($10 and $200) made up 57% of this total. Bets over R$1,000 ($200) – despite representing less than 1% of transactions – accounted for approximately 20% of the funds moving through the platforms.

Market data and predictability

“Analysing this data is crucial for understanding not only the sector’s trajectory but also where improvements can be made – regarding both actual operations and bettor safety and protection. Today, the data establishes market predictability from an operational standpoint, revealing clear patterns dominated by micro-transactions,” notes João Fraga, CEO of Paag.

Player activity peaks between the 8th and the 20th of each month, with the highest frequency occurring between the 16th and the 22nd. The 20th recorded the highest participation in terms of both volume and value during the quarter, whereas the end of the month saw a gradual decline in activity.

The survey shows that the evening hours account for most bets, with 39% of transactions taking place between 6:00pm and 11:00pm. Users aged 25 to 49 account for approximately 80% of the total financial volume. São Paulo remains the primary market for operations, leading in both volume and value. The South and Centre-West regions record the highest average transaction values, while the North and Northeast continue to drive the expansion of the user base.
